Description / Updates

New community park off Southwind Dr. The 7th hole of the old Lake’s Course to be donated to Okaloosa County and to be converted to a community park. The park will be built and maintained by Okaloosa County.

The park honors Abram, a young boy who passed away tragically in 2019. The community support for this effort was simply amazing. Thank you to Okaloosa County Commissioner Mel Ponder, Craig Coffee, Okaloosa Deputy County Administrator, David Vardaman, Randy Wise, Jerry Zivan from Bluewater Resort, president of the non-profit group Friends of Bluewater, Chris Olson, and Pastor Billy Russell from Crosspoint Church, and to everyone else who helped make this park a reality.

The park’s opening ceremony was held at 9 a.m. on 25 April 2021 (rescheduled from 24 April due to inclement weather). The day was beautiful and the turnout was great. A very sincere thanks to Paula Mims of Apple Photography for capturing this event (see link to photos). And a very big thanks to David Vardaman, MSBU, who did a brilliant job bringing this project together over the last two years and for organizing the Opening Ceremony.
